The Inlet Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the dishwasher during the wash cycle. This assembly ensures that the correct amount of water enters the dishwasher to clean dishes effectively.

You should replace the inlet assembly if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad inlet assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, blockages from debris or mineral buildup, or electrical issues. A malfunctioning inlet assembly can lead to inadequate water flow, which affects the dishwasher’s cleaning performance.

Symptoms of a bad inlet assembly include:

  • The dishwasher not filling with water or filling slowly
  • Water leaks around the inlet area
  • Error codes related to water intake issues
  • The dishwasher stopping mid-cycle or not starting

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jim for Model Number KDTE334DSS1

Hello, My dishwasher is less than 3 years old and I found this valve leaking which caused damage to my cabinets and wood flooring. My water pressure is at where the city says it is normal. Is this something I need to change every 2 years to reduce a leak? On the water inlet valve, why is it made with a flip top instead of 1 piece, the small lock tabs and the lid still allow water to leak from here as well as the 2 square holes that allow for water to leak. It seems to be a possible flaw in the design of the part. The only reason I could see a flip top is for clearing a restriction but wouldn't there a restriction in the filter 1st. Just doesn't seem like the best design possible. And if you look into the top the cap before flipping it into the body, there are 2 open areas( part of the maze set up ) that actually can push the water to the 2 square air inlets causing a leak. Why not eliminate that maze or change how the maze is direct into the center instead of the air bleed holes. That would reduce the leak.

Jim, This inlet assembly is not a normal component that would leak. If the part developed a leak then it would just need to be replaced.

Wilbur, Remove the lower rack and check the left side of the tub. Make sure there's nothing blocking the water inlet opening, check and make sure the water inlet nut is tight. Then partially remove the dishwasher and check the water inlet WPW10195536 and hose for cracks, water deposits or water marks running down the tub. Also check and tighten the rack wheel and mount assembly screws, they can loosen up with time and create a small leak.

AK, In order to replace the fill hose you will need to pull the unit out from installation. There will be a clamp on the valve end and on the fill supply end that you will use channel locks to release and then disconnect the hose and install the new one.

Hello, On the water inlet, part # 8531325, there are 2 square holes on each side of this part, on the thin sides, just below the cap. I'm not talking about these 2 little hole to clamp the cap. Why is there 2 holes there? The water gets out from there while in the water fill cycle. I wanted to replace it but the new part has these 2 square holes too. Is my water pressure too high? I don't know what to do to avoid the water drops.

1 Answer

Stephan, The slots on the sides of the assembly are aeration openings, these allow air to mix with the water during the fill cycle. Yes, you will need to check the water pressure to the dishwasher. You'll need to check the inside of the inlet for deposits that may have accumulated on the inside of the housing. If all's OK, replace the water inlet valve WP8531669.

Doug, This would most likely be the water valve leaking that is causing the drip from the connector. You would want to replace the water valve part number WPW10195536.

Craig, If the water is leaking from the top of the valve then the water valve would need to be replaced. There is a little water that would stay in the valve but the seals are what would be the issue.
