I watched the video and noted there are 2 small clips on the backside of the front panel the latch assembly clips into. These are broken on our unit. Are they just to hold the latch in position? Christy December 28, 2014 for Model Number MDB6701AWW1 Our dishwasher still latches but handle gets stuck up in the locked position and its really hard to get the dishwasher open. I know we need the latch replacement but with a handle. When I type my model number into the compatibility checker it says that the part including the handle is not compatible with my model number but the door latch without the handle is compatible. I need the part with the handle. Can I order part number AP4264452 still work with my model number? Thanks

Bill December 09, 2014 for Model Number WDT720PADM0 I just opened my new Whirlpool Dishwasher to install and I think there is a "shipping latch" to keep the door closed during transit. It looks like this thing has to be removed but there is nothing in the instructions about how to remove it. What I am calling the shipping latch is a metal strip attached to the door that goes through a rectangular hole (I think this is for the electric latch) and it clips to the sides of the hole. I had to push the sides of the latch down to release the door to get into the dishwasher. Now without a lot of manipulating and prying of the shipping latch I can't get the door closed. How do you remove this shipping latch? Thank you
1 Answer Bill, Unfortunately we are not aware of a strap that would be holding the door closed. The metal piece that goes into the rectangular hole would be the strike, located in the center of the door is a door strike and it sounds like it either it or the latch may have been damaged. Pj October 11, 2014 for Model Number MDBH979AWB1 Hi This dishwasher is only a few years old. The key pad lights up with the heavy, wash and cancel /drain leds lite. The key pads do not change when touched. I have replaced the front control panel to no effect. I suspect the handle lock but I can not find the correct one. The only other item is the Electronic control I think. I also am not sure how to use my multi tester and check it. What should I do? PJ
