Hello Ada, The first one of these I ran into I determined that the shaft was too short. I called the manufacturers' technical assistance line and the tech line operator advised me to order the shaft and the new one should be long enough to reach from the motor to the ice bin. When the parts came in and I returned to the customers' home, I dis-assembled it and compared the shaft lengths. They were the same length! I called the tech line back and they were at a loss. They said since it was out of warranty, they were unable to assist the customer. Now I had the same parts that wouldn't help in the repair, no assistance from the manufacturer, and a really mad customer. That's when I made the decision to make it work any way. I removed the crusher bin and the two screws that secures the shaft, and pulled the shaft. I wadded up a small wad of electrical tape and shoved it up into the shaft to prevent it from dropping down as far, (It probably made the shaft set 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch higher in the opening). When I re-assembled the mess, much to my surprise, it worked perfectly. I returned about a year and a half later to service the washer and the customer said, "Hey, you're the guy that made my unrepairable ice dispenser work!". When I asked if it gave them any problems she said it had worked flawlessly ever since. Give it a try and let me know if you need any more assistance. I'm here to help!

Hello Virgil. You will need to pull out the drip tray in the bottom of the dispenser and remove the three screws on the bottom. Then, with the power disconnected, you will lift upward on the dispenser cover 241678703 and unplug the wires. Hope this helps.
