For Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer Motor (Part Number: OEM18030759)

Brandon for Model Number Lsq9010pw3

I have a LSQ9010pw3 washer. My problem is that the washer did not drain all water out the other night. I have disassembled complete washer and I think I tested pretty much everything. I checked all hoses tub and pump for clogs. The pump is new. I removed the transmission and spun it with a drill both ways. It seems to be functioning properly. Only thing is that when the machine goes to drain the motor will not turn until it goes to spin cycle so I'm thinking that the neutral drain in transmission is bad. I just removed the motor and pulled out the motor-trans coupler and then reinstalled the motor. The reason I did that was to see if the motor without turning anything else would pump water. It barely pumps water at all.

Hello Brandon. It should not turn during the neutral part of the cycle. It sounds like the pump or the clutch is bad on the unit. Not the motor or transmission.

My Whirlpool washer can still agitate, but does not drain. I have checked that the lid switch is OK and the pump is rotating smoothly with no blockage. I just took out the motor and found it is FSP part#8528157, the same as shown in your picture. The resistance measurement readings between 6 wires of my motor are as follows: Black (BK) to Yellow (Y) wires: 8 omh Black (BK) to all other 5 wires: open Purple (V) to White-Black (W-BK) wires: 2.5 omh Purple (V) to Blue (BU) wires: 3 omh Purple (V) to Yellow (Y) wires: open Purple (V) to White (W) wires: 2.5 omh White-Black (W-BK) to Blue (BU) wires: 1.5 omh White-Black (W-BK) to Yellow (Y) wires: open White-Black (W-BK) to White (W) wires: 0 omh Blue (BU) to Yellow (Y) wires: open Blue (BU) to White (W) wires: 1.5 omh Yellow (Y) to White (W) wires: open I am wondering if my motor is bad for driving the pump to drain? Thanks a lot! Xi

Hello Xi. If the lid switch is good, you need to check the strike that comes down and presses the lid switch. If it is broken, the unit will not spin or drain.

Jojo, You will want to pull the belt off and run the unit in spin to see if the noise still exists. If it does then the motor is at fault. If not then you will want to check the pump to make sure that the pulley spins freely and make sure that there is nothing clogged in the pump which would make noise. If this checks ok then it may be a bad thrust bearing on the unit.

Pat, First, separate the drain pump WP3363394 from the motor and check to see if the pump is clogged or the bearings have seized and is causing the motor to "drag" and hum. Separate the motor from the gear case, Turn the coupler several revolutions in both directions, to test and ensure the transmission is not "locked up". Then check the wires for loose connection and replace the motor if all's OK.

Jaime, To test the motor you can turn unit on and check for 120 vac from white to blue on the motor. If there is 120 vac and the motor is not running then the motor is bad. If the motor is running then check the motor coupling.

Hello Help please, You should be able to turn the coupler one direction easily and see the shaft doing agitation and when you turn the other direction it will be harder to turn but will turn about 3/4 of a turn then the neutral drain will lock into place. If it will not spin in either direction then the transmission will have to be replaced.
