John - Gold Coast December 10, 2012 for Model Number 6ED22ZRXDW00 Hi guys, my Whirlpool side by side freezer is cold but not freezing - fridge side is also cold and wine seems OK as normal. I have discovered that the condensor fan is seized underneath - would this be causing this issue (but I might have thought the whole thing would not be cold?). I checked online and identified it as replacement part 8201703 - is that likely to resolve the problem? John
1 Answer Hello John, Yes the condenser fan motor 8201703 being siezed will cause unit to malfunction like this. When the fan motor is not circulating air it is not allowing the compressor to cool properly. This will in turn cause the compressor shut down on overload prematurely and cause freezer section to not freeze properly. Also as long at the freezer temp is below 38 degrees you will not notice much of an effect on refrigerator section since refrigerator is going to be about 38 degrees when running normal. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Avi. NLA is for No Longer Available. That means the original fan motor, not this one, has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. You will need to order this motor 8201703 and use the provided instructions to install the motor. Read More...

Lawrie December 23, 2011 for Model Number 6ED20TKXGW02 I have taken the condensor fan motor out of fridge. It is not a whirlpool manufacturer, but Emerson part No. 2198747 Model FA338MJWO-4227. Is this interchangeable with part AP3778691 ? I ask this because the wiring looks different.
1 Answer Hi Lawrie. As long as the physical body size and the 120 vac (stamped on the body) is the same, you should be able to adapt to it. The Black wire is a positive for the 120 vac connection. The white wire is the Neutral or negative wire connection. The green wire will be the safety chassis ground for the green wire to go to. Or you need to put the eyelet of the green wire to a frame screw that is within reach. As long as the fan support brackets and the fan blade works, you will be OK. Condenser Fan Motor part # 8201703. Thank You. Read More...
