This genuine replacement part is a drive motor for dryers. The drive motor is the main engine that allows the dryer drum to rotate. If the drum is no longer spinning properly, the drive motor might need to be replaced. Luckily this is a relatively simple process. To replace the drive motor, begin by unplugging the dryer. Once it is powered off, uninstall the front panel of the dryer by removing the screws that attach it. After that, lift the top panel above the drum so that it is vertical and no longer covering the drum. Then disconnect the wires from the moisture sensors with a screwdriver by pressing down on the locking tab. Once the wires have been removed, lift the drum out from the dryer to gain access to the drive motor. Using a socket wrench, remove the blower wheel from the motor assembly. Then remove the old drive motor by unthreading the mounting screws that attach it. Install the new drive motor and reassemble the dryer. This OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpools, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand dryers.

For Whirlpool Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM18024000)

Dave B for Model Number MDE5500AYQ

I have a maytag dryer MDE5500AYQ. While in "air fluff" mode it starts every time. While in "time dry" or "sensor dry" mode the drum will turn 2 or 3 inches and I get a PF fault. I have replaced the motor I ordered from you but have the same symptom. I disconnected the heater relay leads (RL2, blk and pu) thinking the heater may be shorting out but same issue. Once I start the dryer in "air fluff" mode I can switch back to either of the other modes and it works great for the rest of the cycle.

John W for Model Number MCG8000AWQ

Hi, I have a Maytag DC Model # MCG8000AWQ . I believe it is a series 14 since this number is under the model number. Serial# 14254956GL. I am in need of the motor pulley, the picture looks different than my original part. The new part shown has a hex on each side. Mine has a bell on the motor side approximately 1-1/4" in diameter with a hex on the outside (away from the motor - towards the rear of the machine). Will the new part shown work or is this the wrong one? Some specific information: The motor shaft on the pulley side is left handed thread. How can we be sure that the pulley we order has a left handed thread? Do you need any more information? Thanks.

Hello Dan. Yes, it sounds like the motor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello! You'll need to replace the drive motor, the manufacturer does not offer the pulley separately. We'll need your appliance serial number to determine the correct part number needed for your model. If you are still needing help please obtain this information and repost for further assistance. Thanks!

Vincent for Model Number MDE9206AYW

My dryer is louder than normal. It will run for a while but will shut off before the cycle is over. As soon as it shuts off, I can not restart it. If I wait for a few minutes, I can restart it and it will run for the rest of the cycle (as of now). I checked the blower. The wheel turns the drum smoothly and easily and nothing is clogged in it. Is the motor going bad? (I don't know if this will help or not, but I just replaced the belt and both rear drum rollers last month because it was making a squealing noise when it started. That noise went away after I put the new parts in.)

Hello Vincent. It sounds like the rollers may be bad or the felt seals. If all is good, replace the motor on the unit. Something is binding or overheating on the unit.

Hello Dave, The start winding in the motor has failed. You will need to replace the motor assembly to correct the issue. The motor you will need is determined by the first two numbers in the serial number. There are two series for this application. If your serial number begins with 40 or lower, you will need to order part number (AP5272723). If your serial number begins with 41 or higher, you will need to order part number (AP4043081).
