This genuine replacement part is a drive motor for dryers. The drive motor is the main engine that allows the dryer drum to rotate. If the drum is no longer spinning properly, the drive motor might need to be replaced. Luckily this is a relatively simple process. To replace the drive motor, begin by unplugging the dryer. Once it is powered off, uninstall the front panel of the dryer by removing the screws that attach it. After that, lift the top panel above the drum so that it is vertical and no longer covering the drum. Then disconnect the wires from the moisture sensors with a screwdriver by pressing down on the locking tab. Once the wires have been removed, lift the drum out from the dryer to gain access to the drive motor. Using a socket wrench, remove the blower wheel from the motor assembly. Then remove the old drive motor by unthreading the mounting screws that attach it. Install the new drive motor and reassemble the dryer. This OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpools, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand dryers.

Ken, Yes, th blower wheel/motor should continue to rotate after "I give it a push". There should be some "slight" resistance, but the "ramp down" revolutions will be determined by the amount of force applied at the start.

Alan, The part number for the belt on the unit will be WP33002535. Unfortunately we do not have the motor RPM as it is not supplied by the manufacturer.

Richard for Model Number MDG4000BWW

I have this dryer. When you try to start it it buzzes and sets off the motors internal fuse. If I tape the door switch shut and start it empty it will start turning normally Or if I start the drum by hand with clothes in it by spinning the drum and holding the start button down it will run. I do not want to assume anything but think its the start windings in the motor going bad. If it is the motor the diagram shows two motors. Which one do I order? Serial number is 10789480WQ

Richard, You are on target, based on your post information and description you most likely have a weak or failing start winding in the motor. The replacement motor assembly for the model and serial number you supplied is W10410997 / WPL W10410997 (33002237) . The manufacturer has replaced the original part with a "kit" with additional terminals and an instruction sheet to assist you in re wiring the new motor centrifugal switch. The part is in stock and available at this time.
