David, To access the motor you will need to remove the drip tray of the unit. Under the drip tray there are 2 screws that you will remove this will allow you to remove the dispenser cover. Under the dispenser is where you find the motor. There is also a control board that you can test.

Dave, To access the dispenser door motor for this unit you will need to remove the drip tray. Behind the drip tray there are 2 screws that you will remove and then you will be able to lift the dispenser assembly out. You will then be able to access the motor. If the dispenser door is opening then the motor that was ordered will not resolve the issue. The dispenser motor WP2252130 that turns the ice bucket or the control board WP2252174 would be the issue if the motor is not turning the auger to dispense ice.

My original ice door dispenser motor went out after having the fridge for 5 years. I replaced it and it lasted about 2 months and I replaced it again and it has lasted about the same amount of time and is now dead again. The motor is getting power but it is not turning. The motor shaft seems frozen in one position and when I take it out and reinstall, it moves but moves differently from normal so it does not open and close the door. Could I have had 2 bad motors in a row or is something else possible like a bad control board? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Ericvq, I just worked on one of these a few months ago that was doing the exact thing you described. The motor replacement fixed it temporarily and after two motors, I ordered the control board. Changing the control board seemed to work for a few days, until the customer called me back again. This time I ordered the board and the motor. After replacing both at the same time, the customer hasn't called me back. I would recommend changing both at the same time.

Problem is that ice door stopped opening. Replaced the motor on the door 2 times. The original motor lasted for 5 years and each of the 2 replacements have lasted less than 90 days. Could it really be 2 bad motors in a row or is there another possibility like the control board. The new motors did keep getting power but the spindle no longer turned to open the ice door. Auger and ice maker work fine and ice is dispensed to the shoot. Thanks for any help.

Eric, Yes, it could be another faulty motor WPW10184813, it wouldn't be the first time. We'll be sending you some information so you can access the components and properly test the resistance and voltage to the components. Thanks

Hello Chris, The threads on the motor shaft are left handed. It also helps when removing it to "rap" the wrench handle to break it loose as it becomes very tight during its' normal operation.

Tami, If the ice chute door opens and closes when the actuatr paddle is pressed and released, it won't be the ice door motor, unless the paddle or linkage is broken, and then the ice cubes would accumulate in the ice chute and jam up the ice bucket and auger. You most likely have a frozen or faulty auger motor WP2252130 . Here's how to access the dispenser motor " To remove the IDI motor: a) Open the freezer door. b) Press in on the release button and remove the ice bin from the door shelf. c) Remove the two screws from the hex drive shaft coupling holder and remove the coupling assembly. d) Lift the spring and hex drive shaft up and out of the door. e) Remove the boot from the top of the IDI motor. f) Disconnect the motor connector from the IDI motor. g) Unclip the wires from the retainers under the IDI motor housing. h) Remove the three screws from the IDI motor housing and remove the motor and housing from the dispenser. i) Remove the four screws from the IDI motor and remove the motor from the housing." Thanks and Good Luck
