The Diverter Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers controls the diverter valve, which directs water flow to various spray arms throughout the dishwasher during a wash cycle. By accurately adjusting the flow of water, the diverter motor ensures that dishes are thoroughly cleaned and rinsed by optimizing coverage and water intensity according to the cycle selected.

Causes of a bad Diverter Motor can include electrical failures, mechanical wear over time, or damage from water infiltration.  

Symptoms of a bad Diverter Motor include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly due to insufficient water reaching all areas.

Hello Joshua. You will need to check for a water fill issue. Either a stuck float or bad water valve will cause this issue. Also make sure your using hot water in the unit.

Dave, The connector would be part of the main wiring harness of the unit and would have to get the harness to get a new connector.

Bryan, The shaft seal/grommet pert number is WPW10195677 / W10195677 if water did get into the motor assembly, it's best to replace it as well, W10537869 / W10537869 for the model number you supplied. Thanks,

Christine, The diverter motor making a clicking noise will need to have a new motor which is part number W10537869. There is really no trick to lining it up to get it back in. You will want to make sure that the inside of the unit is disassembled in order to get this part back in place.
