The Diverter Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers controls the diverter valve, which directs water flow to various spray arms throughout the dishwasher during a wash cycle. Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Diverter Motor (Part Number: OEM16950825)

1 Answer

Ron, You will want to check for 120 vac getting to the motor on the unit. If there is 120 vac then then check the impeller to make sure that it is not damaged and that nothing is clogged in the pump assembly. If this checks ok then the motor would be fault and need to be replaced.

Hello Dave, A film on the dishes is more likely caused by improper heating of the water and/or improper detergent. I would first do a sanitation cycle with white vinegar, no dishes and no detergent to flush any contaminants. Then check the heating circuit for proper operation. This can usually be done with the aid of the units' tech sheet, usually located behind the kickpanel.

Hello Blange, I'm sorry but the number you posted is apparently the publication number of your units' tech sheet. We will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Without the model number my best guess at the part number needed is WPW10195677. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Ray. The grommet is the issue and it is located in the sump housing. You will need to make sure you press it into place and it seals properly.

Eric, The diverter motor would be the most likely cause for the unit still leaking with having a new sump with oring.

Rob R. for Model Number Kenmore model 66513043K dishwasher

I am replacing diverter motor (valve) your part number AP5650272 (Whirlpool OEM number W10537869) on a Kenmore model 66513043K dishwasher. I plan to also replace the grommet at the same time -your part number AP6016787 (Whirlpool OEM number WPW10195677). I have seen some repair suggestions to use a sealer on the outside diameter of the seal and lubricating the diverter shaft and seal with a "water proof lubricant" such as Dow silicone grease. But on your website there was mention of not using any grease on the grommet. What is the best way to install this grommet and diverter motor - with or without sealer and with or without silicone grease on shaft? Thank you, Rob

1 Answer

Hello Rob, The manufacturer does not recommend using anything on the diverter during installation. It is always recommended to use a dab of liquid soap on the diverter shaft to prevent damage to the seal during installation.
