John July 11, 2014 for Model Number A712 My Maytag a712 leaves little drops of thick Carmel type oil on my floor. Can you help lead me in the right direction to fix this myself? The washer has been sitting for over a year during renovations without being used. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello John, You will need to replace the lip seal on the bottom of the transmission. This repair is seldom effective unless the seal is installed with the brake housing removed. Also, if the new seal is installed with the brake housing removed and the seal still leaks, the transmission may have a groove worn on the transmission shaft where the old seal rode against it for so long. In this case, you can either tear down the transmission to replace the shaft or replace the transmission assembly. Read More...
J. June 12, 2014 for Model Number LAT8226AAE Hi, I just got done replacing the bearing and hub seal in my machine. After giving it 5 minutes or so to spin, I began filling it up again as a test and it continued to leak from the center. I've watched the video a few times on replacing the stem and I can't find what I did wrong. Any common mistakes or things I should check? Thanks
1 Answer Hello J. You must replace the stem 6-2095720 with the bearing on these. If not, it will leak. Read More...
Alejandro S. February 20, 2014 My Maytag A390 inter tub does not stay centered. I have replaced the damper AP4024203 but it still does not stay centered. What could be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Alejandro, This is either going to be the damper pad 203956, the main base (bent at area of the dome in the center) 203274, or a combination of the two. Lets hope the main base is not the issue since this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Read More...

Raoul January 09, 2014 for Model Number LA512 On Maytag LA512 washer the agitator has only a very small amount of movement. Which part is likely to need replacement? The tub spins fine. After removing the agitator, I can't see what would engage the slots inside of the agitator.
1 Answer Hello Raoul. Look and see if the agitator is stripped out on the unit. If it is good, then it sounds like the transmission is bad in the unit. Read More...

Steve B November 19, 2013 for Model Number Maytag Washer A712 How do you get the agitator paddle off the shaft? I removed the 1/4' screw from base but the paddle only slides up about 1" before it stops hard against something. Is something else holding it or should it come off easy or only after further muscular force??
1 Answer Hello Steve. If the screw is removed from the agitator, then it should lift out of the unit. The only thing securing it is the set screw. Read More...
