The Dryer Drum Felt Seal is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This seal ensures a tight fit between the dryer drum and the rear bulkhead, preventing air leaks and maintaining proper drum alignment during the drying cycle. The seal measures approximately 36 inches in length and 1 inch in width. Please note, adhesive for installation is not included.

Causes of a bad felt seal can include friction from the rotating drum, exposure to high temperatures, or general wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad felt seal include:

  • Clothes getting caught or torn during the drying cycle
  • Increased drying times due to air leaks
  • Unusual noises such as scraping or squeaking
  • Visible gaps or tears in the felt seal

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Note: For adhesive order WPY055980.

Hello Donna, You cannot access the drum seal from the rear of the unit. It will have to be accessed from the front of the unit.

Hello Bob, The drum will have to come out to glue the new seal to the drum. This is not difficult. I do recommend to glue the new seal on, re-assemble the unit, and allow it to sit for a couple of hours before running it. This will prevent the rear seal from coming loose because the glue has not set up. I'm sorry but we do not have a video of replacing the rear seal.

Dave, Yes, both the front and rear tumbler seals are the same part number WP37001132 and would be the correct part to order. The part number for the adhesive is WPY055980 and the "white" side of the seal is where the adhesive is applied. You should also have some denatured alcohol handy, it works pretty good for removing the adhesive from your fingers, bulkhead, etc.
