The Oven Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, designed to accurately measure the oven's internal temperature and communicate it to the control board. This ensures that the oven maintains the desired temperature setting during baking or roasting, providing consistent cooking results.

Causes of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly can include exposure to high temperatures for prolonged periods, affecting the sensor's accuracy, electrical malfunctions like short circuits or wiring issues impacting its performance, and physical damage from cleaning or moving the oven compromising the sensor's integrity.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly include:

  • The oven does not heat to the set temperature
  • Over or undercooking of food
  • Error codes displayed on the oven's control panel

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Oven Sensor Assembly (Part Number: OEM18049359)

Keith for Model Number GS475LEMS 2

A few moments after power is applied, the range begins beeping as the oven temp indicator starts at 350 and gradually beeps down to 170 where it stops with "Start?" showing in the display. At that point the only button that works is "Cancel" which eventually starts the process over again. Occasionally you can get the oven to begin preheating after setting an oven temp but eventually the same thing happens. The control board is not available for purchase but I sent it to Core Centric Solutions for repair and it came back repaired and tested but the same symptoms occur. If I disconnect the ribbon cable from the touch pad I get the E0 F2 error, but with the cable attached there is no error code, just the beeping. Could this possibly be a problem with the oven sensor or more likely the touch pad? The touch pad is a separate part for the control board, but I can't find a part number or anywhere to purchase it separately. Any insight would be appreciated.

Keith, This issue does not sound like it would be caused by the oven sensor. You can test the oven sensor to see if it is bad. The sensor should have a resistance reading of approximately 1090 ohms at room temperature. This will have a plus or minus 10% and if out of range then the sensor would need to be replaced. It does sound more like a keypad type of issue but the keypad comes as part of the control board which has been discontinued.

Hello Brian. It sounds like the key pad needs to be replaced on the unit. If the code continues after the key pad is replaced, then it may have damaged the temp sensor in the unit.

Hello Denise. F2 is a Shorted key. You will need to 1. Verify failure, if not displayed. Go to Diagnostics screen 5 A-Last Fault Code/ B-Cleared Error Code); and clear the error code by pressing the START key. 2. Unplug range or disconnect power longer than 30 seconds. 3. Plug in range or reconnect power. 4. Observe for longer than 1 minute. 5. If failure remains, go to step 6. 6. Unplug range or disconnect power. 7. Replace control. 8. Replace all parts and panels before operating. 9. Plug in range or reconnect power. 10. Verify operation is normal. Go to step 1 and complete checks.

My oven errors out (F2) during the warm-up cycle; it usually warms up for about six minutes before erroring. Once the F2 error appears, none of the buttons work; at this point I must kill the power and wait about 3 minutes before powering it back on. Once I power it back on, it will bake without erring again. I don't have a meter to test anything, but I'm thinking it's the temperature sensor, based on Google research. What do you think, most likely, is the problem?

Rich, The F2 error code is an indication that the keypad is shorted, that the cable is unplugged or that the cancel key drive line is open. You will want to check the keypad connector for firm connection to the control board. Press cancel and if error code comes back in 60 seconds then replace the keypad.

Hello Rita, The most probable cause of this complaint is the clock WPW10173537. The relays are the common failure on the board. These switch the elements on and off on the temperature information sent by the temperature sensor.

Dana, It's not likely to be an oven Temp sensor, That would usually produce an error code in the display. The issue could be in the ERC/Clock 8190201 but you may want to start by checking the wiring from the spark module to the gas valve, The DSI spark module WPW10331686 reignition circuit could be weak or faulty. The gas valve WPW10293048 could have a weak circuit in the solenoid assembly, and won't allow the ignition to occur after the solenoid coil gets hot from the power passing through it. Those are more likely than a sensor or control issue.
