Homerepairguy2022 January 23, 2022 for Model Number KSSC48QTS03 I've been diagnosing why my ice bucket keeps getting jammed and it was a combination of the coupling teeth and the end of the shaft being worn down. I replaced the coupling easily but I can get the shaft out about 8 inches but no further. I've got the drive shaft holder removed and the seals, but could something else be holding this shaft back? I see some small notches on the motor end of the shaft from the diagram and wasn't sure if there was some sort of clip on the end to prevent removal. Should I just give it a more serious yank?
1 Answer HomeRepairGuy2022, the shaft WP2318082 will have a rubber washer on it that can cause it to catch. Removing the auger motor W10822635 to get to the washer would be necessary. Read More...
Dan August 30, 2020 for Model Number KSSC36QTS00 Hello, I had a question in regards to my ice not dispensing and was advised to buy a new motor. I placed the order for the motor but while i was waiting for the shipment I decided to troubleshoot further and test the motor inside my fridge. As I stated in my other question that I could hear the motor spinning and moving the shaft. Upon further troubleshooting it seems as the shaft is not high enough for the coupling. I pulled the old shaft out and moved down the rubber part so the shaft is higher and meets the coupling more. This seems to have resolved my issue but I feel that to fully resolve this I may need a new shaft and coupling. Is it common for the shaft to have to be replaced due to becoming stripped or is it more common for the coupling to be replaced? Also could it be something as small as the drive shaft coupling sleeve wearing down and moving down the shaft so that connection between the shaft and coupling is not deep enough? I am returning my original order of the auger motor. In this situation would it be recommended to buy a new shaft, drive shaft coupling sleeve and/or new coupling piece? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Dan, the shaft comes with the plastic collar already installed at the correct position, it should not be able to move or be repositioned, it is WP2318082. Read More...
Michael July 06, 2020 for Model Number KSSC48QTS Hello, I just recently purchased a replacement auger motor drive shaft (WP2188917) but it turned out that the shaft was shorter than the original. The original shaft's length is 14" and the new auger shaft is 12 1/5". Is it possible to provide me with the part number for the 14" shaft? much appreciated!
Ndubisi March 18, 2018 for Model Number KSSC48QTS02 Why is water leaking from the ice bin? It was so frozen that i couldn't get the bucket out until i turned the power off for a day. The shaft and the auger motor also got frozen
1 Answer Ndubisi, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty ice dispenser chute door WP2180353 which may either not be closing all the way or is allowing air to migrate into the bin. Read More...
Tony October 13, 2017 for Model Number KSSO48QTXO4 When I lifted the ice bucket from the door the steel auger rod lifted straight up with the bucket up about 6 inches and is now firmly stuck and unable to go up or down. What do I have to do to be able to lower the rod down to the level enabling the re-positioning of the ice bucket? Do I need to order a part?
1 Answer Hello Tony. Try turning the rod as you press down to seat it into the motor on the unit. It will need to be back into place to reseat the bucket on the unit. Thanks. Read More...
G May 30, 2017 for Model Number KSSC48QTS02 The drive shaft from inside the door (that extends down into the motor) spins "somewhat" freely but will not lift out after the 2 holding bolts/clip are removed. Seems frozen to motor but will turn when a wrench is applied. Is there anything I need to worry about if apply some muscle to this to remove it? Thanks
1 Answer Hello G. No, it should lift out. If not, remove the motor from the unit then it should lift out with ease. Read More...
Gretchen May 18, 2016 for Model Number JS42SEDUDW01 After removing an jam in my ice bin I can not longer get the ice bin to "sit" properly on the door. There does not seem to be any broken pieces on the underside but I have not been successful in getting the bin back in place. Do you have suggestions on what to try or what part might have gotten damaged when I go the ice bin off the door? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Gretchen. You will need to order WPW10395653 to repair the bucket on the unit. Read More...
Big V July 17, 2015 for Model Number ED5PHAXSB01 I need the part that sets on the bottom shaft that drives the ice crusher when I put the Ice container on it...I lost mine and I don't know the name--would it be called the sleeve coupler??? or what?
1 Answer Big V, Yes The part that sets on the top of the shaft that drives the ice crusher is the "sleeve coupling" WP2315559 and is basically located on/in the freezer door "bump out". The component located on the bottom of the ice bin assembly is the "coupling" W11629923 and held in place by a screw, make sure you check the coupling and tighten the screw if necessary. Read More...
Murray October 20, 2014 for Model Number KSSC42QVS02 Hi the shaft ,part number 2318082 is seized and I am no sure how to remove it . I removed the auger motor. and there is water in the shaft hole of motor. Could there be a leak in the ice bin leaking down? The motor still runs but some ice crystal got into the motor case, thanks
1 Answer Murray, When you lift the ice bin off the door of the freezer, there are 2 screws that you removed. This will allow you to lift the shaft out. If the shaft is stuck in the motor then mount the motor back in and tap the shaft with a hammer to loosen it from the motor then try to lift out. The ice crystals will form if the door is opened and left open for longer then normal periods of time. Condensation will build and crystalize in the motor area. Read More...
