Mool March 21, 2014 for Model Number LSQ9564JQ1 The first part of the agitation cycle works fine but it gets to a second part and it sounds like grinding...the agitator is still working but I fear something is not working correctly...any ideas on this?...thanks!
1 Answer Mool, You're initial diagnosis is a good place to start. You will need to remove the agitator cap / dispenser and the bolt underneath and check the agitator "dogs" and auger for stripped teeth. Then lift the agitator bottom WP3951632 out and check the metal agitator shaft and the agitator center splines for white plastic debris and slippage. Your washer has a partial drain cycle mid way through the wash. It's possible for the agitator to start "slipping" and making noise at this portion of the cycle. If the agitator dogs and agitator check OK, we'll need to start looking at the timer. Read More...
Bob February 12, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool LSQ8243HQ0 I need to replace the cam-agitator and ordered part number 285809. Like many others I cannot remove the upper agitator from the lower. I suppose I need to replace the whole thing - upper and lower agitator. What additional parts do I need considering I have the cam-agitator kit already. I am close to replacing the whole thing.
1 Answer Hello Bob, Stand on the bottom of the agitator and yank up on the top half. There are only four plastic clips that attach the top to the bottom. It will snap off. Read More...

Jc January 27, 2014 for Model Number LSB6200KQ0 Your video shows the upper agitator separating from the lower agitator but mine does not do that. How do I separate them to check to see why the top agitator is only catching to the lower agitator some of the time? The bottom agitator is working just fine.
1 Answer Hello JC! The upper agitator will pull off after the center screw has been removed. It may be tough so you'll have to stand on the bottom and tug on the upper agitator. If the upper agitator is doesn't agitate you'll more than likely have to replace the agitator dogs in cam kit part number 285809. Thanks! Read More...
Martina K December 28, 2013 for Model Number WTW4800XQ0 Dear Appliance Pro Staff, I figured out how to get the top of the agitator off and I was able to replace everything very easily after that. However, we are still experiencing a grinding noise when it is washing. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Martina
1 Answer Martina, You will want to check the belt at the bottom of the unit and the splutch assembly to ensure that it is engaging properly. This is the most likely cause for the unit to make a grinding noise during agitation. Read More...
