The Sump is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It serves as the central component of the dishwasher's water circulation system, housing the pump and filters. My 4.5 year old dishwasher has started leaking underneath. When I noticed the leak, I pulled the DW out from the cabinet and looked underneath. I could see water dripping under the unit (on the left side as viewed from the front) onto a couple thin electrical wires. I stopped the wash cycle and drained the DW. I did a quick look-see underneath but nothing looked obvious. Do you have any suggestions on what might be the issue or how I can further identify the root cause of the leak? Thanks. (PS: This dishwasher is in a condo that I bought a year ago. I think the condo unit may have been unoccupied for an extended period of time, if that is of any help to your diagnosis.)

Omni, You will want to check around the float area and make sure that it it is not leaking and check to make sure that the tub is not overfilling the. The water should come to just below the heating element. if it is getting too high it will cause the leaking issue. Also check the spray arms to ensure no cracks or clogging to them.

Hi, i recently replaced the sump and sump seal Pat # W10455268 on my Kenmore dishwasher Model # 66513032K114. Before I replaced it I checked to make sure the Diverter motor Part #: W10476222 was working proplery. Now after the install of the sump and seal the motor appears to be not working. By not working I mean the spray arms are not turning. Any ideas?? I've checked and cleaned the connections. Did I miss a step in the reassembly process?

Jonny, You will want to recheck the installation to make sure that the diverter blade is properly on the shaft of the motor inside the unit. If this checks ok then make sure that it is not binding and if all checks ok then the motor may be weak.

I have a leak that drips down to the what appears to be the motor. Part W1047622. It sits in the middle of the washer looking from underneath. There is a a stem that goes into the middle of the washer, appears to turn the sprayer. The motor looks good but water drips down only when on. Do I REPLACE THE SUMP UNIT? DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE INSIDE SPRAYER or this is all done by turning over the washer TY

Johnny, You will want to remove the lower spray arm and remove the sump for the unit. Remove the diverter motor which is in the center of the unit and there is a seal there which is part number WPW10195677 that would need to be replaced for the leak.

I have leakage under the dishwasher with food/gunk buildup around where the gasket is on the sump and water drips down from one of the sump retaining tabs. I am assuming that this is because the gasket has failed. Can I just replace the sump unit with part AP5629560 without purchasing a new motor? Thanks!

The seal on the shaft (shaft on motor part W105379869) that turns the valve to supply water to the turbozone and the upper spray arm is leaking. is the only way to repair the leak at the seal is to replace the whole sump?

Chuck, Based on the information, you should not have to replace the sump in order to get the seal for the motor. The motor should come with a new seal with it.
