Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Thermal Fuse (Part Number: OEM18024984)

Kevin for Model Number RGD4440VQ1

I replaced the gas valve coils (on my propane dryer) even though they tested okay, but still didn't fix the problem I was having. The burner flame starts out blue, then cycles off every few minutes but the flame gets smaller and eventually turns yellow as each cycle continues over a 15 minute time period. Then eventually no longer ignites. I've checked the propane lines for leaks and none were found. What could possibly be causing the flame issues and then no flame?

1 Answer

Kevin, if the igniter continues to cycle on and off even when the flame does not ignite, either there is a gas supply failure or there is a failure in the dryer valve WP8318277.

Jake, there is an access panel at the bottom front of the model provided that can be removed by using a putty knife to disengage the tabs at each top corner of the lower panel. This will allow it to rotate forward and then pull up so that the appliance can be inspected under the drum.

Thomas, The first place that you will want to start is by making sure that the venting is clear from the blower wheel to the outside of the home. This is the most common cause for a dryer to not dry the clothes properly.
