For Whirlpool Thermistor (Part Number: OEM18067536)

Eric, Thank you for your question. For the issue of the unit making too much ice, this would be a thermistor issue. The icemaker not making ice at all would most likely be something different. You will want to check to make sure that there is water to the reservoir. If there is water to the reservoir, is the pump putting water across the evaporator plate. If there is water across the plate, does it form ice but not go through the cutter. These are all things that would need to be checked.

Hello Danny, thank you for contacting APP, This issue is usually due to the Thermistor WPW10511923 / [OEM18067532] being improperly positioned or having gone bad. If the ice is touching the thermistor and it still continues making ice then the thermistor will need to be replaced, if the ice is not touching the thermistor you can try repositioning it.

Karen, the thermistor WPW10511923 is a potential cause of failure and it would need to be tested for resistance to identify if it has failed. If the resistance is 7.6K Ohms or higher when the ice maker is empty and warm, it has failed and would need to be replaced.
