Denise March 28, 2014 for Model Number duet dryer I am testing my new thermistor and it reads infinity on my multimeter, so no resistance and no connectivity. Does this mean it is a bad thermistor? The old thermistor has the same reading so that is why I ordered a new one.
1 Answer Denise, You will want to check the thermistor for continuity. The thermistor should not show open or infinite reading. If it is showing as infinite then it is faulty. Read More...
Janice March 13, 2014 for Model Number WED7600xw When my Whirlpool Cabrio dryer was just over 1 year old, it stopped. It would click and the sensing light would come on but it would not start. After some research the thermal fuse was replaced and it worked for a short while; then F22 began coming on. It would work for a while on some loads before the code would appear. My son replaced the thermistor #8577274 in December. It has the code F22 again and will not run more than 1 minute before stopping with this code. Should I just replace the thermistor again or is there something else cause this to happen?
1 Answer Hello Janice. F:22 flashes if the exhaust thermistor is open. If you test the thermistor and it is not open, then you will need to check the wiring and if it is good, then replace the control board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Megan February 12, 2014 for Model Number WED8300SW2 My dryer gets hot but doesn't dry the clothes all the way. I have tried to use different temperature settings and cycles sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. I also think that the timer is off as well. I'm not sure where to start with this.
1 Answer Hello Megan. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Hass February 10, 2014 for Model Number 11072882101 Dryer runs but the igniter doesn't glow. The fuse is good. Igniter reads 79?
1 Answer Hello Hass. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter to see if it is good. If it is not glowing, test for power. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Michael January 31, 2014 for Model Number GEX9868JQ0 Whirlpool Senseon Wife went to dry clothes. Panel lit up. Set load to Normal. When pushing start it acted as it was going to start but immediately died. Lights stopped at "sensing". Have checked door switch, thermal fuse, thermistor, fuse etc, all seem to be OK. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Michael, You need to pull the tech sheet and run the diagnostics to pull any fault codes. The tech sheet should be in the control panel in this unit. If not, re-post and we can send you a copy. It sounds like the control board 280071 is the issue. Read More...
Dave January 31, 2014 for Model Number MDG22PRBWW0 Our Dryer wouldn't start, you'd press a button & I'd here a click but then nothing on the display it would show that the dryer is running , even though it wasn't .On an ohms meter it showed there was no power getting to the motor. so I replaced the circuit board ,after some research told me that had to be the problem. any ideas on what else it could be , the thermal fuse checks out fine, could the thermistor be causing this. thanks Dave
1 Answer Dave, You will want to check the door switch and check the resistance of the thermistor as both could be the issue. Read More...
Charles January 19, 2014 for Model Number whirlpool duet dryer with steam checked the thermister part number 8577274 with a multimeter on 200ohms and got an infinity reading. I assume the part is bad. Is that correct?
1 Answer Charles, If you got a infinity reading on the thermistor then you will want to double check with the resistance set for a higher reading. Put on 20K and see if you get a reading and if still the same then the thermistor is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Dave December 18, 2013 for Model Number MED9800TQ0 If the thermistor is bad, can you bypass it by putting the two wires that go to it together (securely) and bypassing it? And, if so, and the dryer, still, does not run, what would you check next?
1 Answer Hello Dave. No, if the thermistor is bad, you can not bypass it. It must be replaced. Read More...
Mike December 12, 2013 for Model Number whirlpool wed6200sw1 Hi I'm trying to track a problem on a whirlpool Cabrio dryer. The problem is a lot of clothes come out extremly wrinkled. We just replaced the thermal fuse cause it was missing/bypassed. We purchased this unit used and werent aware of the thermal fuse missing till we started having problems. After installing the new thermal fuse it worked fine for a week then it blew. I'm thinking it is the thermister , allowing the dryer to run too hot, causing the fuse to blow. I removed the thermister and it reads 15k ohms. It says it should read 10k , so is this my problem? Thanks Mike
1 Answer Hello Mike. The thermistor is testing bad. However, if it blows again, you will need to replace the control board WPW10111617 on the unit. Read More...
Cheryl S December 09, 2013 for Model Number wed5100vQ0 My dryer will not start. We replaced the on/off switch cause it didn't seem to be connecting and sticking. Timer works like it want to start but does not actually start what else could it be?
1 Answer Hello Cheryl. You need to check and see if the thermal fuse or the door switch is bad. Either will cause the issue you are having. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
