Dan January 23, 2024 for Model Number WSR57R18DM05 Hello, my Whirlpool refrigerator (fridge only model) is not cooling properly, fluctuates between 41-52°F. I have checked that the condenser and fan are both running, did a reset by unplugging the power for 7min, tried the reset by pushing the door latch 3x, and tested the ohms on the thermistor which read 3.9 at room temp and went down in ohms when I warmed it up? I am at a loss as what the next step should be, thank you.
1 Answer Dan, Check the evaporator coils and make sure that there is a good frost pattern from top to bottom. If there is not a full frost pattern, then this may be a sealed system failure and need to have service to repair. Read More...
Smith November 27, 2023 for Model Number WRT519SZDM02 re: whirlpool WRT519SZDM02 (freezer top, refrigerator bottom): For freezer thermistor WPW10384183 or AP6020677, do you have a table (or web site link) with the optimal thermistor ohm readings and corresponding temperatures such as at 60 degree Fah, 50 degrees Fah, 40 degrees Fah, 32 degrees Fah? This is in order to test the thermistor for damage. a Table of these values (ohm, and corresponding temps Fah) would really help out.
1 Answer Smith, Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not have a temperature chart for the thermistor on this unit. The resistance at 77 degrees should be 2.7K ohms. Read More...
Herman September 05, 2023 for Model Number WRS325SDHZ08 The freezer keeps freezing up I have thawed it out twice and it works good for about a week, What can I do?
2 Answers Hello Herman, the control board uses a thermistor attached to the evap coil for sensing defrost temps, access the coil and check if the thermistor is still clipped tightly to the coil, if it has come loose it will cause defrost problems. Read More...
Herman September 05, 2023 for Model Number WRS325SDHZ08 The freezer keeps freezing up I have thawed it out twice and it works good for about a week, What can I do?
2 Answers Herman, This would be a defrost issue in which you will need to test the defrost heater, thermostat and thermistor. If they are good then this will be a faulty control board. Read More...
Jan N August 13, 2023 for Model Number WZF34X16DW00 Thank you for answering my prior question regarding the location of the thermistor. I found it. My problem is that the temperature in my Whirlpool upright freezer will not go below 17 degrees F. Do you think I should start by replacing the thermistor or is there another faulty part that may be causing this? Thanks.
1 Answer Jan N, If the unit is running and just getting down to temperature then you will likely have a defrost or a sealed system type issue. If the unit turns off before getting down to temperature then it could be a thermistor or a control issue. The thermistor can be checked for proper resistance with a multimeter. Read More...
1 Answer Greg, The model number listed is not showing up as a good model. Please verify the model and resubmit your question. Read More...
Jan August 11, 2023 for Model Number WZF34X16DW00 Where is the thermistor located in my Whirlpool upright freezer? Do you have any information or a video on replacing this part?
1 Answer Jan, there will be a rectangular thermistor cover on the left side of the appliance liner that would need to be pinched at the sides to be removed. This will expose the thermistor WPW10384183 for replacement. Read More...
Steve August 10, 2023 for Model Number WRS325sdhz08 Where is the thermistor located in my 2021 side by side Whirlpool refrigerator?
1 Answer Hello Steve, there are 3 thermistors located in this model please repost your question with which section you are asking about. Read More...
Bill July 06, 2023 for Model Number WRT311FZDW00 Where is the refrigerator thermistor W10384183 located in the fridge?
1 Answer Bill, the model number provided would not utilize a thermistor. Instead, this model would use a mechanical thermostat W10866230 located in the refrigerator temperature control housing. Read More...
Ang January 24, 2023 for Model Number WRT108FZDT02 If the fridge is freezing food is the thermostat the problem?
1 Answer Ang, the thermistor W11438736 of the refrigerator would need to be tested for resistance. It should measure 2.7K Ohms at 77°F, 7.6K Ohms at 37°F, 8.8K Ohms at 32°F, 22.7K Ohms at 0°F, and 37K Ohms at -15°F. If the thermistor does not measure within 10% of resistance in comparison to the temperature it is exposed to, it would need to be replaced. If it does measure within the tolerance, the main control WPW10643378 would be the likely cause of failure. Read More...
