FC, You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that the venting is not clogged which could cause a overheating issue. Also check the blower wheel to make sure that there is nothing clogging it. If this checks ok then you will want to check anything that can cause excessive drag on the motor that will cause the motor to overheat and shut off. If the motor overheats and stops but will restart after cooling down then this will be the most likely cause. If the unit has shut off completely and will not restart at all then the issue will be cause by possibly a blown thermal fuse on the blower housing.

Clothes are not drying. When I turn on the dryer it does igniter the Gas for 5 minutes and then goes out (as it should) but 2 min later the igniter glows however no gas flows, so the igniter stops. I checked and have continuity on 4 sensors (Flame, High heat, Humidity, and Cycling). Part 61372 has 3 legs coming off it. There is continuity between 2 of them but not the third. Should there be continuity between all the legs? I'm pretty sure this is not a gas jet problem.

20YrsStrong, You're correct, it is not a "gas jet problem" or a thermostat issue. Based on the information, you most likely have a gas valve coil 279834 that is failing and will not open the gas valve to release and ignite the flame. As for the WPY61372 thermostat, No there will not be continuity between all three legs. There will be continuity across the brass terminal and the steel terminal across from each other. When the thermostat reaches temp. the circuit will switch and then there will be a circuit between the two steel terminals. This is a "single pole double throw" thermostat. and is working properly at present.

John for Model Number LE8457W

my electric dryer doesn't heat up enough to dry the clothes. i have to run it twice to get them dry. i thouroughly cleaned the inside and the venting. The airflow is quite strong. i put a temperature probe in the drum and monitored it for a full cycle and the temp. never gets above 125 degrees even towards the end of the cycle. the heating coil appears to stay off longer than on. it glows a nice bright red when it is on. i tested the high limit, thermo fuse and cycling thermostat and they all have continuity. the cycling thermostat says 135 degrees+/-15. I want to fix it but i am about to give up and get a new dryer. i don't want to though. any ideas?

John, Based on this information, You will want to make sure that the blower wheel is not clogged with lint and if it is clear then you would be looking at a bad cycling thermostat.

Jim, If the igniter glows then fades, but there is no flame or gas released for ignition, it would be an issue in the gas valve coils 279834 or no gas supplied to the dryer or gas valve. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello David. The thermostat WPY61372 has three terminal spades on it. You can't see the one sideways in the picture. Hope this helps.
