Fleurdefixe June 11, 2021 for Model Number GW395LEPS00 Confirmed that one of the gas valve solenoids is open. Should I still get current to the bake and broil igniters or does the DSI do a self check and confirm solenoid coils are good first, before sending signal to igniters? What voltage is fed to the igniters? 120VAC ? DSI is new from you, kicking myself in the ass for not checking solenoids first.
1 Answer Hello Fleurdefixe, the DSI board upon a signal from the main control board to start heating the oven for bake or broil will first test the gas valve coils for correct ohms, if it detects a problem it will stop the heating cycle (no spark to oven ignitors, no gas flow to burners). The control board will not generate a fault code if this occurs. The oven bake /broil ignitors will get the same high voltage spark pulse as do the cooktop burner ignitors, about 2k volts. The gas coils are part of the pressure regulator /valve assembly WP9763716. Read More...
Andy March 03, 2021 for Model Number KGRK806PSS02 The oven part of my Kitchenaid gas oven/range stopped working consistently. Bake and broil will ignite very inconsistently - sometimes they light, most often they do not. I tested the gas valve resistance from common to each of the bake and broil leads - I have a reading of 196 Ohms across each. This seems less that the 216, but still within the +/- 30 Ohm range. The stove top burners work with no problem. With these readings and inconsistent operation, do you believe my gas valve needs replaced? I believe it is part # WP9763716. Thank you.
1 Answer Andy, it would be recommended that the burners are inspected and cleaned of any residues that could cause the spark ignitors to not be able to spark properly. If it continues after that, the most likely failure would be in the spark module WPW10331686 as it controls all ignitors and the gas valves. Read More...
Michael December 07, 2020 for Model Number Valve: WP9763716 The oven part of my Kitchenaid gas oven/range stopped working (neither bake nor broil will ignite). Their is current flowing to both igniters and the temperature probe seems ok (about 1000 Ohms across the leads). The gas control valve reads 200 Ohms between the top lead and the com (center) lead, but 400,000 Ohms between the bottom lead and the com. From what I have read, I need a new gas control valve (WP9763716; the number on the part is 4453999 from FSP). Can you confirm that this is correct?
1 Answer Hello Michael, you are correct the gas valve assembly WP9763716 needs to be replaced, both coils should have the same value. Read More...
Sean June 26, 2020 for Model Number KGRS807SSS00 My bake and broiler igniter do not work. The stove top lights just fine. I don’t think both igniters would go out at the same time. The gas valve reads about 205 on an ohm meter. I had a service guy out and without checking the gas valve says the problem is definitely the gas valve since both igniters are not coming on. It’s a simple part to swap out but was wondering if the real problem could be something else since I got 205 on the ohm meter
1 Answer Sean, Based on the information provided I would recommend that you check with the multi-mater at the wires to the ignitors and see if you are getting power when they are turned on. The gas valve is not going to open if the ignitors are not glowing and drawing amperage. Read More...
Robert March 15, 2020 for Model Number WFG361LVQ1 So when I test the connections on the oven safety valve for Wfg361lvq1. from the common to bake its 186ohms and the same for common to broil but when I go from bake to broil I get 246 ohms. So we have the two at a 186 ohms and one at 243 ohms. Is this good enough to work. I would appreciate any one who can help me figure this out asap. My oven isn't working and I'm not sure if it this or the computerboard
1 Answer Hello Robert, first, the wires to the gas valve solenoids need to be disconnected to check the ohms, the bake/broil coils are identical and should have a value of around 199-216 ohms each. If one coil is out of range the DSI spark board will disable the ignition spark and gas valve operation for bake and broil burners. As a side note, for no oven heating also check the oven door switch is working, if the control board sees the oven door is open for longer then about a minute or so it will disable the oven heating with no indication it has, oven heating will resume after the door closed in about a minute.. Jarm October 01, 2018 for Model Number KGRS807SSS00 I am checking the ohms on this three-prong saftey valve and on the 200 setting it reads 1 from red to orange. On the 2k setting it reads 206. It reads 1 from blue to orange. It appears faulty. Can you confirm? Also, I have noticed the range flames turning orange lately. But the range is working fine. The broil and bake went out at the same time and neither are working now. Thanks
1 Answer Jarm, You will want to have the setting for 2K and it should read 216 ohms plus or minus 10%. If your resistance is incorrect then the valve is faulty. Read More...
Attila September 24, 2018 for Model Number KGSA906PSS00 Hi, my question is kitchen got flooded and the oven too. The repairman came out when I plugged in the oven it was clicking nonstop so then he said the spark module was bad. I replaced it stop clicking I mean the sparks the top works great. But when I turn on the oven it comes on for a couple of seconds and turns off. Yesterday it took like 3 hours to heat up to 400 degrees. I don t know if the igniter is bad or a safety valve? What would you suggest?
1 Answer Attila, You will need to make sure the ignitor is drawing 3.2 to 3.6 amps. This is the current the ignitor needs to draw in order to open the gas valve. The easiest method to test is with a clamp on amp meter. Read More...
Dan July 22, 2018 I purchased a gas valve (ap6014168) for my oven and this corrected my problem. However i noticed flames coming from the inside floor of the oven now. Im using lp. Thanks
1 Answer Dan, Adjust the orifice on the valve by tightening it down til it bottoms out about 1 1/2 to 2 turns. Read More...
Harvey May 31, 2017 for Model Number WFG361LVQ2 My whirlpool range model number wfg361lvq 2 won't stay lit. The bottom burner tube lites just fine but the top won't. The igniter has a weaker spark then the bottom. The temp sensor is new and reading close to 1100 ohms. My safety gas valve is reading 202 ohms. Any ideas? It gets to around 200 degrees then you can hear the oven shut off and then try and ignite again then shuts off
1 Answer Hello Harvey. Try cleaning the burner and ignitor. If the issue continues, and you have good spark, replace the gas valve. It can ohm out good and still be bad. Read More...
Ray K March 18, 2016 for Model Number kgrs807WH00 Hi, I see 216 ohms as a solenoid resistance value. There are three terminals on the gas valve. Is there a 'common' connection? What does a schematic of the solenoid coils look like?
1 Answer Ray, Of the other 2 terminals one is for the bake and the other is for broil. You would need to go from either connector to the center Com connector and should have a resistance of 216 ohms. Read More...
