The Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It controls the flow of water into the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser, ensuring a steady supply for both functions.

Causes of a bad inlet valve can include mineral buildup from hard water, wear and tear over time, or electrical failures that prevent the valve from opening or closing properly.

Symptoms of a bad inlet valve include:

  • No water or ice production
  • Leaks around the valve area
  • Low water pressure from the dispenser
  • The ice maker not filling with water

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Bill, While the filter will filter some chlorine, the water that is incoming may have more chlorine than the filter can filter out of it. The other thing would possibly be that the water tank may be causing this issue.

Frank, check and make sure the saddle valve on the cold water supply line isn't clogged or bent, and you have plenty of water and water pressure on the water tube to the fill valve. If all's OK, then replace the water inlet valve WP2188808. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

The icemaker on my Kenmorerefrigerator/freezer drips water very slowly into the ice bin for a few minutes after dumping the ice and refilling. It is a very slow drip: one drop every few seconds. The drip stops once the water is frozen. The drip is in the front, right at the "max ice" assembly. Other than that, the icemaker seems to be functioning properly. What are the one or two most likely causes of this? A defective water/solenoid valve? A problem with the icemaker itself, such as a cracked mold? Is there a way to test the water valve for this? Is there a way to repair it?

Hello Richard. If the icemaker is dripping, you will need to order and replace the icemaker on the unit.

Hello. You can test and see if your getting power to the valve. If there is power there, but the valve is not working, then you will need to replace the valve. Hope this helps.
