For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18018636)

Hello Harry. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.

Hello Walter. No, this is common due to no hose being installed on the valve. It is suppose to do that if the hose is not installed on the hot valve. You will need the new water valve WP22001274 to use the unit.

Hello Willie. You will need to replace the valve. Also, check the lid switch assembly and see if the fuse is bad. If so, replace it as well.

After our washer completes a cycle, cold water continues to drip slowly out of the spray head. Eventually, it will stop, but sometimes we'll have a half gallon accumulated before it stops. I've tried turning the water on & off, thinking it might be trash in the valve, but this doesn't seem to make a difference. AND, the machine is leaking where the shaft goes up into the tub, but not constantly, that is, the tub can be full of water, but it only leaks during certain times of the cycle, and it seems to leak only when we set the machine for SUPER loads. Do I need to replace the valves to stop the leaking? And, could the leak from the spray head be overfilling the tank during a wash? And causing the leak at the bottom of the tub?

The washer will fill up with water when the water temperature switch is set to "Warm", but will not fill with any water when set to "Cold". I watched the repair video where one of your technicians replaced the water inlet valve, and this seemed to be identical to the type of repair I need to perform. I believe the problem is stemming from an issue with the solenoid. I just wanted to make sure I was purchasing the correct part prior to placing my order.

Hello Campbell, You need to first remove the water supply hoses, one at a time so they don't get crossed, and check the screen in the water valve and check for a screen in the hose, (both ends). If no screens are stopped up and voltage is being supplied to the water valve, (cold side), when it is turned on and should be filling with cold water, the water valve will require replacement. If voltage is not being supplied to the valve, the water temperature switch is suspect.

Seth, No there is no polarity issue, so it really won't matter. Most servicers orient the wiring on the valve so the orange and blue wires are on the same terminals on both solenoids.

Angie, With the unit not putting cold water into the unit and only putting hot in then you will want to check your temperature control switch. The temp control is what sends the power to whichever setting you want it on. It sounds like a stuck contact in the switch 22001923.
