Ray S. December 10, 2011 for Model Number TPI21A3L Our icemaker sometimes makes hollow ice cubes and lately intermittently the water doesn't shut off when filling the tray and floods the icebox freezer and icebox below. We currently put the icemaker's arm up so it won't make ice so it won't flood our icebox. Is it the water valve or the icemaker that has the problem? My phone # is: (314)249-6103. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Ray. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve W10833899 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Dan. It sounds like the water valve 12494902 may have a slow leak and it will cause the fill tube in the freezer to freeze over. Hope this helps. Read More...
Norman C. August 09, 2011 for Model Number TP21A3W The icemaker operates in an unsatisfactory manner. It produces miniscule ice cubes.
1 Answer Hello Norman. If the ice cubes are too small on the unit, you will need to replace the water valve W10833899. Hope this helps. Read More...
Michael H. June 04, 2011 for Model Number Amana TH21V2W I have tried replacing the water inlet valve on the fridge but that didn't fix the problem. Then I went ahead and replaced the icemaker assembly, but there still is no water going into the plastic tube that supplies water from the inlet valve to the icemaker. I checked both the replacement inlet valve and the original, and they both have continuity. There is an electrical connection to the inlet valve and also to the icemaker. There is no reason for me to believe that a short has developed in either, but how do I go about testing to see if I have power coming from both of these connections? I have a multimeter but I'm strictly an amateur at this and need some advice.
1 Answer Hello Michael. Have you checked and made sure the fill tube going to the icemaker is not frozen? If it is clear, you can test the valve, with the icemaker cycling, to see if it is sending power to the water valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Michael H. May 28, 2011 for Model Number Amana TH21V2W refrigerator Our ice maker stopped working and there was no water coming out of the refrigerator end of the water valve. I unplugged the fridge and removed the water valve, took it apart, cleaned the filter, etc, but still get no water. I ordered a replacement valve from APP but that didn't fix the problem. After revisiting your site I learned how to test the valve's coil with a multimeter and both the old and the new valve seem to be fine. Is there something else I can check or will I need to replace the entire ice maker assembly? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Michael. If your valves are indeed in working order, you may want to check the water lines and wiring that goes to the icemaker. The water lines can freeze and the wiring may have a short in it. If you check this and still have no water, it is likely a failed icemaker. That part is D7824706Q. I hope this info helps!
