This electrically actuated valve controls the flow of household water into your appliance during operation. Replacing a sticking or leaking valve restores proper fill performance and helps prevent unwanted dripping between cycles. What it does:

  • Opens and closes to admit the correct amount of water at the right time
  • Helps maintain stable water pressure and shutoff to the unit
  • Common symptoms of a failing valve: no fill, slow/insufficient fill, water seeping into the tub when off, or leaks from the valve body
  • May buzz or hum without allowing water flow when the internal coil or screen has failed or is clogged
What's included:
  • 1 water inlet valve
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Keep towels or a tray handy; some residual water will drain
  • Note hose and wire orientations; transfer any brackets or fittings from the original valve
  • After installation, restore water and power, check for leaks, and run a test fill cycle

Michael H. for Model Number Amana TH21V2W

I have tried replacing the water inlet valve on the fridge but that didn't fix the problem. Then I went ahead and replaced the icemaker assembly, but there still is no water going into the plastic tube that supplies water from the inlet valve to the icemaker. I checked both the replacement inlet valve and the original, and they both have continuity. There is an electrical connection to the inlet valve and also to the icemaker. There is no reason for me to believe that a short has developed in either, but how do I go about testing to see if I have power coming from both of these connections? I have a multimeter but I'm strictly an amateur at this and need some advice.

Michael H. for Model Number Amana TH21V2W refrigerator

Our ice maker stopped working and there was no water coming out of the refrigerator end of the water valve. I unplugged the fridge and removed the water valve, took it apart, cleaned the filter, etc, but still get no water. I ordered a replacement valve from APP but that didn't fix the problem. After revisiting your site I learned how to test the valve's coil with a multimeter and both the old and the new valve seem to be fine. Is there something else I can check or will I need to replace the entire ice maker assembly? Thanks!

Hello Michael. If your valves are indeed in working order, you may want to check the water lines and wiring that goes to the icemaker. The water lines can freeze and the wiring may have a short in it. If you check this and still have no water, it is likely a failed icemaker. That part is D7824706Q. I hope this info helps!
