This low-profile washplate sits at the bottom of the tub and moves the load through water for proper cleaning. Replace a stripped, cracked, or loose washplate to restore wash action and reduce noise or slippage.

  • Mounts to the drive hub to rotate and circulate laundry during the wash cycle
  • Helps create water currents and friction to loosen soils
  • Worn or stripped splines can cause slipping and poor agitation
  • Common symptoms: clothes not moving, poor cleaning results, unusual clicking/grinding from the tub base, visible cracks or wobble
What's included: 1 washplate Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water before servicing
  • Remove the center cap/cover, then remove the retaining bolt and lift off the old washplate
  • Clean and inspect the hub splines; seat the new plate fully and reinstall the bolt—do not overtighten
  • Run a short test cycle to ensure proper wash action

For Whirlpool Washplate (Low-Profile Impeller) (Part Number: OEM20641539)

John for Model Number Maytag Bravos

Washer was making a grinding type of noise during wash cycle, no noise with spin cycle and spin works fine, just wash cycle. My hunch is the washplate may be stripped. I pulled the plate and it is a metal teeth and the rod it is attached to is metal. Hard to say for sure if there is wear, but I would think the washplate would tend to break down first. Question is, what else should I be looking at and how would I know for sure? Hate to buy a new washplate for this to be something else.

Marlon, In most cases when the unit is making a noise during the spin cycle then the issue will be caused by bad tub bearings. For the issue you can go one of 2 different ways with replacement. The first option is to replace the main tub which is part number W10193886. The second option is just to replace the shaft and bearing assembly which is part number W10435302 but will need a bearing tool part number W10447783.

Dean, It may be easier to use the spin basket to remove the impeller/wash plate. There should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch up and down movement in the basket (this is normal for this style washer), grasp the tub by the balance ring and lift up sharply on the basket, " NOTE: Lifting the basket will assist in removing the impeller". If it's that bad, you may need an assistant.

Hello John. Unsnap the center cap out of the wash plate. Then remove the bolt in the center of the unit. Once removed, you will lift the wash plate W11252784 out of the unit. You may need to use a putty knife or an ice pick to help you raise it out of the unit. Hope this helps.

Stephanie, here are the instructions on removing the wash plate in your washer, 1) unplug power cord from outlet 2) Tape the washer lid closed. 3) Using a putty knife, press and unlock the two front top locks. The locks are approximately 6-1/2? from the outside edge of the washer.1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Raise the cabinet top . 3. To remove the basket: a) Loosen the clamp and pull the recirculation hose off the tub ring. b) Pry out and unsnap the tub ring tabs from the tub and remove the tub ring. c) Insert the blade of a small screwdriver into the slot in the impeller cap, then pry the cap up, and remove it. d) Remove the 7/16? hex-head bolt from the impeller, then lift and remove the impeller from the basket. NOTE: Lifting the basket will assist in removing the impeller. As for parts delays or backorderred parts availibility, We have no idea, it is dependent on the manufacturer production schedule, but it is in the area of 10 to 14 days on average. Thanks and Good Luck.
