  • Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before servicing
  • Keep towels/bucket handy; relieve line pressure and label hoses and wire connectors for correct reassembly
  • Inspect/clean inlet screens and flush supply lines before reconnecting
  • After installation, restore water and power, then run a test cycle and check all connections for leaks

Hello Jake. Turn off the power and the water to the unit. Remove the screws on the back of the top panel and slide it back and lift off the unit. Next, remove the water supply hose from the valve. Once removed, unplug wires on the valve and remove the hoses from the old valve. Remove the screws securing the valve and remove the valve from the unit. Install the new valve in reverse order.

Don for Model Number Maytag MAH8700A

The bleach valve on our washer seems to be getting stuck in the open position. Start the wash cycle and it works just fine, but when washer goes into rinse and spin modes, the bleach valve constantly adds water. If I turn the cold water valve off and then on again it stops. I ran all of the "Service Mode" diagnostics and the bleach valve passed the "Quick Service Cycle. In the "Board Output Test", the bleach valve sticks in the open position when I set selector to "delicates". Opens fine when I push selector knob, but will not close when I press a second time. Just wondering if the problem is the valve assembly or the electronics since it passed one test and failed the other.

Hello Don, What you will want to do is connect meter to the valve and when you push button it should energize the valve. When you push a second time then it will deenergize. If it continues to energize the valve then you would need a board. If it does deenergize then you will need a water valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Joe. The three way water valve WP34001248 sends water to different sections of the dispenser. If one of the solenoids are bad on the valve, and it is calling for water and does not work, you will get the error code. Test for power to one of the solenoids and see if there is power and no water coming into the machine. If so, replace the valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
