Cindy June 30, 2015 The heating element is black, I assume that is why my dryer is taking forever to dry?
1 Answer Hello Cindy. The elements turn black over time. That does not mean they are bad. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Stephanie May 06, 2015 for Model Number EED4400WQ0 I have an Estate Electric dryer that is about 7-8 years old. It has been moved several times over those years. I now have to dry clothes anywhere from 2-3 times, only on one setting; the high heat/auto sense setting. It still take a couple of times to dry. Do I need a heating element for it to work on all settings, or could there be another problem with the dryer? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Stephanie, The problem is the air flow. If the exhaust duct is not a full 4 inch diameter to outside, any dryer hooked to this duct will take multiple cycles to dry a load of clothes. Make sure it is not crimped or clogged and is as short and straight as possible. Read More...
