Teressa L. April 09, 2015 for Model Number W10136522A I have a 2007 Whirpool Cabrio Steam Dryer works, but no heat. help.
1 Answer Hello Teressa, I would pull the tech sheet and pull the fault codes. ACTIVATING THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE 1. Be sure the dryer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off, or with only the Done indicator on). 2. Select any one button (except Pause/Cancel) and follow the steps below, using the same button (remember the button): Press/hold 2-5 seconds ? Release for 2-5 seconds ? Press/hold 2-5 seconds ? Release for 2-5 seconds ? Press/hold 2-5 seconds 3. If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display. Read More...
1 Answer Patsy, There are several things that could cause the dryer not to heat. You would want to check the thermostats and thermal fuse for continuity. Make sure that the heating element is not broken. If all this checks ok then There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the timer. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the timer side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad and if there is 120 vac then the heater would be the issue. If there is 120 vac at each point then the heater is faulty. Read More...
Pete March 31, 2015 for Model Number KEYS750LQ2 I replaced the heating element you sent and when I turn on the dryer it blew the house fuse. When installing I found only two connections to the themostat and none for the element. The video showed one for the element. Is this the correct part?
1 Answer Hello Pete. No, you have the unit wired wrong. You need to have one wire to the heater, then the high limit WP3977767 goes to the other terminal of the element. Then the other wire goes to the other side of the high limit. Read More...
John March 13, 2015 for Model Number Inglas Dryer I replaced the heating element a year ago and now the replacement is broken. Both elements had an open and did not short. Could the element get overheated? Would replacing the thermostat fix this? Thanks
1 Answer Hello John, This can be due to a sticking thermostat but is more commonly caused by a ducting issue that is holding the high temperatures in the unit too long. If the ducting is clear, (no clogs or crimps), and is as short and straight as possible, you should still replace any of the ducting that is flexible since all of the major manufacturers have determined that this is a major cause of issues. Normally replacing the thermostats will not help when the issue is a heating element failing unless taking the units' average operating temperature shows the thermostats not opening. Read More...
Brandie March 09, 2015 for Model Number EED4400WQ0 So I replaced the heating element. The thermal fuse and thermostat and it still wont heat. After I changed everything I started it, it heated up so I turned off to put covering back on and now it wont heat up. I followed the videos to and now I am baffled as to why it will not heat up. Any suggestions or thoughts.
1 Answer Hello Brandie. Look for a bad wire, loose connection, or terminal block issue. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. John March 04, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool LER5636JQ8 Video for replacement of heating element was great and believe re-inserted the thermistor correctly, but no heat when turned on. The dryer drum rotated so not an electrical problem to the dryer. Assuming that the new heater element is OK, what else could be wrong and how do we (I) fix it.
1 Answer Hello John. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Jsunnyb February 12, 2015 for Model Number MED6400TQ0 I have switched out the thermal fuse and the heating element. I forgot to label the wires to the heating element. How can I tell if I hooked it up correct?
1 Answer Jsunnyb, Going to the heating element there should be a wire that comes off the high limit thermostat that would go to one of the terminals of the heating element and there would be another red wire that would lead to the motor that connects to the other side of the element. Read More...
