Sandra T November 13, 2014 for Model Number LER3624.JQ1 The dryer does not heat and the timer does not work now. Do I get a heating element or a thermal fuse?
1 Answer Sandra, If the timer is not working in the timed or auto dry cycle then you will want to replace the timer as it sounds like the contacts in the timer may be bad and may have a bad timer motor. If this issue is only occurring in the Auto cycle then the cycling thermostat may be faulty. Read More...
Robert D November 13, 2014 for Model Number ler8620pgo I replaced the heating element thanks to your excellent video. The old unit did heat but would not dry as it once did. the old unit coils were black, but didn't appear to be shorted. How many ohms should I read across the coil?
1 Answer Hello Robert. The heater should read closed for continuity If it does not dry like it use to, It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Rob H. November 11, 2014 for Model Number MEDC400VW0 After a few years of problem-free use, our dryer started setting the circuit breaker (240 v, 30 amp) after about 10-15 minutes of drying. The dryer will not shut down when the no heat option is on, but sets off the breaker with low or high heat. Any ideas about what might be the problem with the dryer? The circuit breaker seems ok (but I am checking it too). Thanks
1 Answer Rob, You will want to check the heater assembly on the unit to make sure that the heater is not grounding out once it heats up. This would be the most likely cause for the issue. Read More...
Marielle November 01, 2014 for Model Number EED4400WQ0 My dryer will heat sometimes and not heat others. When I switch to a different setting it may or may not work. We just keep picking different settings until we finally find one that heats...it varies day to day. Today, it has quit working all together.
1 Answer Marielle, Based on the description of the issue, it sounds like there is an issue with the contacts in the timer of the unit. The contacts appeared to be making at some points but not others therefore creating the no heat issue. This would require a new timer WPW10185970. Read More...
Leah October 28, 2014 for Model Number WED5560SQ0 My Whirlpool dryer turns on and runs, but it never gets hot. I checked the fuse and the thermostat, both were working, so I replaced the heating element. The dryer still doesn't heat. What would be my next step? I'm thinking its time to just get a new dryer.
1 Answer Hello Leah. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Scott P October 12, 2014 for Model Number HYE2460AYW I noticed that the dryer had stop running and smelt a burning smell. I opened it and checked the lent collector and it hadn't been cleaned. I cleaned it and let it cool off but still does not work ?
1 Answer Scott, With the issue that you are having, this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty thermal fuse. You can test the thermal fuse which is located on the heater housing for continuity and if it does not have continuity then the thermal is ban and you would need to replace part number LA-1053. Tim September 28, 2014 for Model Number Whilpool Ultimum 11 Video was perfect, excellent simple instructions. The heating element you showed is just exactly like mine. I found a break in the spiral wire that turns red and heats up after I did my continuity test. So the element is bad and I ordered my new one with you guys. My question is I only have a two (2) wire hook up on my element and yours showed three (3) wires. I looked for another just in case it fell off but there is not one. It works O.K. with the two what would the third be for? They must have made them with two at sometime. The dryer is 10 years old. Thanks guys you were a very big help and saved us a lot of money. GOOD customer service all the way around!!!!!!
