Refrigerator Defrost Drain Pan Parts

Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Took everything out and transferred it to coolers etc. Unscrewed and took freezer unit apart ..Evaporator fan not working and made decision to replace motor and bi metal defrost thermostat. Order parts from Appliance Pros. com and the unit was put back together and so far it corrected the problem. The instructions and service were outstanding. Great Company. Read more

I simply removed both shelf and drawer, cleaned the area. I attached the drawer to the shelf and slid the whole assembly into the bottom of the refrigerator. Read more

I used the brand and model number of the fridge to look up the part number. This website had the part in stock and shipped it fast. The fix is easy to do. Getting the right part and finding one in stock is a little harder. Appliance Parts Pros has a web chat that was very helpful in making sure I got the right part. The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. The decision was made to make an upgrade to the evaporator motor and control units so that the appliance could reasonably be expected to have extended service life. The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent, The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. The cooling coils were iced-up. The ice was blocking air flow to the refrigerator. This resulted in the freezer working fine while the refrigerator was warm. Called AppliancePartsPros and talked to Sally. Sally was a big help in troubleshooting the problem. I ordered and replaced the cooling coil heater. If you attempt to do this repair yourself, BE CAREFUL, the cooling coil fins are sharp. Read more
