Prevents oil leaks from your washer's gearcase and keeps internal components lubricated. Replace if you notice oil pooling under the machine.
Replaced clutch assembly, gearcase input shaft seal and motor coupler. When I disassembled the washer I realized the shaft seal on the top of the gearcase was leaking and not the input shaft seal. So had to order more parts before I could finish this job. Altogether I replaced agitator dogs, both seals on the gearcase, the clutch assembly and the motor coupler. Fix washer leaking black water from center shaft with this transmission shaft seal. Prevents liquid from tub entering gearcase. Moderate difficulty repair.
We initially thought the issue was the gasket at the base of the tub, but that ended up being okay. We replaced it just in case. In order to even get the agitator off, we had to drill through the agitator bolt.
