Frost on the liner at the lower back and warm temp Catherine P. • Southampton , PA • August 05, 2014
Replaced the defrost timer. It was not located where the parts explode suggested in the thermostat control box which is located in the upper right corner of the liner. It was in fact outside the freezer compartment on the back lower left support (when looking at the back of the freezer). It is secured with 2 sheet metal screws with a 1/4 hex head. The manual override dial is visible through a punched hole in that support. Just remove the 2 screws, disconnect the electrical connector. Then...

Broken grill vent & cut power cord on microwave Karl B. • Goshen , KY • April 24, 2019
The grill vent is only held in place by two screws. Super simple fix. Remove the two screws and the old grill vent, position the new vent and put the two screws back in. Replacing the cord required that cabinet to be removed. Lots of screws on the back, top and bottom. Once the screws were removed, the cabinet pulled back. The power cord connections were then clearly visible. Undid the two wire connectors and unscrewed the ground wire from the body to remove the old power cable. Installed the...

This bimetal defrost thermostat mounts on the freezer evaporator tubing and monitors coil temperature to control the defrost heater. Replacing a failed thermostat restores proper defrosting, reduces frost buildup, and helps maintain stable refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
- Monitors evaporator temperature and opens the circuit to end the defrost cycle once ice has melted
- Closes when sufficiently cold so the defrost heater can energize during the next cycle
- Acts as a safety limit to help prevent overheating during defrost
- Typical symptoms: heavy frost on the back wall/evaporator, refrigerator section too warm, unit not defrosting, or defrost heater not energizing
What's included: 1 defrost thermostat Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
- Remove freezer bins/shelves and back panel to access the evaporator; melt excess ice as needed (do not pry on coils)
- Install the thermostat firmly against the evaporator tubing using the existing clip/bracket if applicable; match wire connections and routing
- Reassemble panels, restore power, and verify normal operation
Diagnosis tip: Cold, the thermostat should show continuity; warmed, it should be open. Always test with power disconnected.
