Refrigerator not cooling or compressor won't start? A failed run capacitor prevents the compressor from running. DIY repair in 10-15 minutes with video guide.
In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not... Read more

Freezer won't start or compressor hums but doesn't run? A failed run capacitor is often the cause. DIY-friendly repair, typically done in under an hour.
Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). I received the parts at 1 PM EST; by 1:48 PM I had the freezer working. Easily saved $250.00. A nice aside was that an Internet competitor was asking $53.00 for the same... Read more

Replaces missing, stripped, or rusted 8-18 thread screws that secure dryer panels, brackets, and components for tight, rattle-free assembly.
It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed. I disconnected power and then removed 3 interior screws. Once I did that I removed the back cover and removed the single screw on the bottom side of the air duct that held it in place connected to the heat tube. I then reversed disassembly. I want to tell you this is a 2 person job. In order to assemble it you need to... Read more
Freezer not cooling or staying cold? This temperature control thermostat cycles cooling on/off to maintain set temperature. Easy DIY fix restores cooling.
The freezer would cool down to 0 degrees after being plugged in but once it hit zero the freezer failed to keep it there, it would warm back to room temp. I ordered the cold control knob and it came very quickly! It did come with directions but failed to address what terminal you plug the black and yellow wires into. I checked online and ultimately called AppliancePartsPros and they forwarded me to a technician. He said it didn't matter so I plugged in the two wires and it has been a week and... Read more

Replaces worn, cracked, or missing temperature control knob on your freezer. Restores smooth temperature adjustments and clean appearance.
I replaced defrost timer (which I am glad I did because of wear on the points) but that did not cure the problem. So after checking other components, I found that the temperature control was the culprit. No problem, I will simply order part # 2162521100. Well Frigidaire decided to obsolete that part and "Has not provided an approved substitute". So, I have to scrap this freezer and pay $800 to $900 for a new one? Not! So I kept looking at subsequent freezer temperature controls and found part #... Read more
