I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). I seared the web and found Appliance Parts Pros site and when I input my GE refrigerator model number I was able to do some diagnostics on their site. It was indicated from my research that the Water Inlet valve most likely was at fault for my problems. Ordered the part online and when it arrived I followed the online video on how to remove the old auger and install the new auger. I had to review parts of the video several times to make sure I put everything back together correctly. My husband is not mechanically inclined and I take on some of the repairs. My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. I simply removed the control panel by pulling up and out on the bottom edge, the edge is only about 1/8 inch thick, so don't reach in to far. After disconnecting power to the fridge, I first removed the ice maker/water dispenser/fridge control faceplate. This easily popped out using a flat head screw driver. Then disconnected the 3 wire harness connections to the control board. I next removed the plastic dispenser housing shield. There's only 4 screws that hold this on.
