Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously   Reid D. • Santa Maria , CA • April 01, 2016

The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent, The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Freezer very cold and fridge warm   Randall S. • Pawcatuck , CT • October 01, 2014

Replaced defrost heater, temperature and defrost limiter thermostat. After taking the cover off the air chiller I found the coils frozen solid and defrosted it with a hair dryer. Once defrosted I remover the heater coil to test it it was fine, then I could see the defrost limiter was broken and as I put the unit back together I broke the heater tube (it is glass) so I ordered all the parts that might be defective and replaced them for less than the charge of having some one come to check it out. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frig and freezer not cold enough   Brian L. • North Las Vegas , NV • July 22, 2019

After removing the rear panel, I vacuumed the area. Then was easy to see condenser fan not spinning. I replaced the fan with a compression ring and a fan motor. First pulled the wiring harness connected to fan motor, then pulled off the fan with hands. Then used a wrench to remove 2 bolts for the motor. Next, pushed on new fan and screwed in the 2 bolts for the motor. Initially, I purchased a new temperature control to replace as well but after replacing fan and motor, I believe it was still... We isolated a burning smell in our kitchen to our refrigerator, GE Profile PSS23MGTCCC which we purchased in November of 2006. This occurred at 3AM on 29 January 2015 and I am thankful that my wife got me up to investigate this odor. I unplugged the refrigerator. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Evaporator fan making noise/changing speed; freezer light socket bad   Paul S. • Albany , OH • November 26, 2016

Had some confusion of what part I needed, needed the one with the motor and thermostat. New light socket and lamps fit fine, worked fine, new motor is fine, problem resolved. FYI: Look closely at the wiring in you unit, there are two wire harnesses, one feeds the light, the other feeds the motor... Read more
