Fixes ice dispenser not dispensing or auger not turning. This motor assembly drives the auger shaft that moves ice from bin to chute. Moderate difficulty.
Replaced the motor, however not the easiest to do with the older refrigerators. First I had to remove the shelf that hold the ice bin. There is a small screw midway underneath the tray. Once removed the shelf is loose but still hard to remove. There is a side panel that is slotted andonce removed the shelf can then be removed, but not knowing that it is a very odd fitting unit. Then comes the unplugging which cannot be seen so it is all by feel. Once the shelf drops down the plug is now... Read more

Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Replacement fastening screw for securing trim, panels, and brackets inside appliances. Use when original screw is missing, stripped, or damaged.
I pulled out the old housing and unplugged the motor. It pretty much came out in pieces. Remove the plastic from the motor, then had to take a pair of vice grips to hold the spindle in place to remove the auger. Remove what was still attached to the old Housing. Cleaned everything up and put the whole unit back together. The motor looked like it was somewhat cooked but still worked, so I ordered a new motor and auger to replace it. Because this fridge is 24 yrs old, Appliancepartspros... Read more
