The video was quite helpful with step by step instructions. I ordered a belt and idler pulley before dismantling assuming they were the issues. Belt was easy and fit fine but I did not realize the idler pulley was secured with a special fastener, push on cap nut, that would be damaged if removed. So I left it in place. Simply open the top of the washer by inserting a putty knife (watch YouTube ) and then the front panel by removing two bottom philips head screws on the front. The whole front panel comes right off. Using pliers the spring clams holding each hose, they come off and each hose is replaced. The drain one was only leaking but since it has open I changed both and even the drive belt. The agitator stopped functioning and there was a squeaking sound occurring in agitation mode. I found that if I cranked down on the agitator cap, screwing in as hard as I could, the agitator would work briefly, then the cap would loosen and agitator stop moving. I removed the agitator cap, along with which came the agitator stud cap and a rubber washer/seal which was jammed up into the underside of the cap. The trunnion is the hub that mounts the washer's inner tub to the drive shaft. Replacing a worn hub restores a solid, centered connection so the basket spins smoothly without wobble, slip, or grinding. What it does:
The seal at the bottom of the tub had started to fail. On large loads water would leak so I ordered a new one rubber seal. Getting the trunnion off the transmission shaft was hard as it was calcified and corroded. I used a wire brush to get some of it off and then used a lot of WD-40. The bolt holding the trunnion plate on sheared off when I tried to remove it on one side and the other came out ok (the bolt hole through the trunnion is not threaded so it should slide out once the plate is off... The repair was easy and completed within 30 minutes. I also replaced the drum bearing pads. Because of the worn parts, the drum actually cut thru the existing light socket wires, so I probably could have just spliced them together to fix, but . Since I already purchased a new light socket assembly I just replaced it with the new one. Everything is installed and works great. Read more
