Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). I received the parts at 1 PM EST; by 1:48 PM I had the freezer working. Easily saved $250.00. A nice aside was that an Internet competitor was asking $53.00 for the same... Read more

I determined that it was a problem that occurred during the defrost cycle by resetting the GFCI outlet and forwarding the defrost timer until the defroster came on. Once the defrosting began, the GFCI outlet would reliably trip. I took apart the shielding inside of the freezer and tested the defrosting without the heating element or the thermostat connected. Since that looked good, I tested for proper functionality of the thermostat by removing it, placing it in a working freezer, and checking... Read more

Replace a failed control assembly with this control kit. It restores proper control response and consistent operation by replacing the module that manages your appliance's settings, timing, and user interface. What it does:
I determined that this was the part to get based on a previous reviewer's post who had a similar problem. I bought the controller, it shipped quickly and I received it two business days later. I followed the instructions of the previous poster and had the device installed in about an hour. The most difficult part or should I say tedious part was unscrewing and then replacing the panel and screwing everything back in. The refrigerator keeps temperature now and turns on periodically as it should. Read more

This replacement part is a set screw, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by Frigidaire. This screw set is compatible in many different areas of the appliance. Screws are typically used for keeping parts of the machinery secure and in place. This can be due to screws becoming stripped over time or if the appliance is bumped during transport. It is typically easy to replace screws. Simply remove the old screw and replace it with a new part. The only tools needed for this repair are a screwdriver and possibly pliers if the damaged screw is stuck in place.Note that this is a genuine OEM replacement part and is sourced from the manufacturer. This set screw is sold individually.
I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. Removing the old handle and installing the replacement was very easy. It looks great, in fact the replacement is metal, whereas the original was plastic, so it looks better than it ever did!
