Had to order a new drawer. However, we then had to remove the front from the old drawer and put it on the new one. There were no instructions on how to do this, even on YouTube. Fixes ice buildup on freezer back panel and warm fridge temperatures. This defrost heater melts frost from evaporator coils. Moderate DIY repair.
IMPORTANT: Defrost heater was more difficult to install around the evaporator coils than the APP installation videos show, but it can be installed. See below. FIRST: Unplug the fridge/freezer! I tested the thermostat, mechanical defrost timer, and the defrost heater with a ohmmeter and determined that the heater was bad. Purchased a replacement COMPRESSOR. The compress or was a replacement for MFG. P/N 5304478809. The compressor was not an exact replacement. There was no port identification so the connections took a lot of time searching the net and then only the suction port was noted. Aluminum strap secures the defrost heater against the evaporator coil. Replace if broken, cracked, or missing to maintain proper heater contact.
Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap.
