Push start switch on ge dryer Michael S. • Carlsbad , CA • February 26, 2017
I was trying to troubleshot a problem I had with my GE dryer not starting. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com because they have excellent DYI videos on how to make repairs. I determined that the problem was in the push start switch. I ordered the switch online and it took 3 days to arrive. It took 5 minutes to replace the switch and the dryer works perfectly.

Door handle on ge dryer broke off Laura N. • Glen Gardner , NJ • June 27, 2014
My husband found the exact handle we needed to replace the one on our dryer at AppliancePartsPros.com and we ordered it. When it came, we replaced it. I know this sounds like a simple story, but honestly, it's much more. For weeks, this broken dryer handle was driving me crazy. Finally, my husband realized that AppliancePartsPros would likely have the part--and they did. We ordered the part on a weekend and got it on Monday. I couldn't believe it. We think this place is awesome. In the...

Two year old GE gas dryer stopped heating. Harry H. • Valparaiso , IN • September 13, 2020
Changed ignitor.
Ordered new ignitor by just putting dryer model number in the search box.
When I opened the dryer up and took the old one out I was originally upset. The meter read 73 ohms. I was expecting OL (open line). The new one read 273 ohms so I put it in. Dryer works now.
The install video’s are old. It was much easier than the video’s showed. Opening the control panel was a little trickier than the video. You do NOT need to take screws off the back of the dryer. There are 2 screws...

Gas dryer would run but no heat Roger M. • Fabius , NY • September 03, 2016
I checked out a few youtube videos on trouble shooting a gas dryer that would not heat, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8j6fQM3P34. Eliminated all the sensors as possible problems, leaving only the coils or more advanced problems. Took the chance it was one of the coils. I ordered both, replaced them both, put the dryer back together and fortunately that was the problem and it lit up and is running as good as new.

Was making a squeaking/squealing on start up Gerald G. • Nashua , NH • March 20, 2016
My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I found a manual online that covered my model and I watched a video on this site that showed me how to take it all apart, mine was a bit different but the principles were the same. I took it apart and added some quick-disconnects to 2 wires so next time I can take the front panel off easily. When I got to the bearing it looked worn but not bad so I cleaned it and put it back. ...

Plastic shaft on dryer timer rounded required replacement to function Norbert G. • Hempstead , NY • July 14, 2025
Easy fix, first I unplugged the dryer. Then removed the 6 Philips head screws on head unit back panel. Photographed wiring on timer. Removed the 1 torx screw holding the timer assy in place, the front panel knob was already off, would no longer stay on. Removed the wires from the timer assy, removed the timer, replaced it with new one, reinstalled torx screw. Reattached the wires to the positions removed from. Pressed the new knob on the shaft at front panel, tested it functioned and in the...

"Squeaking dryer" Bob D. • Scottsdale , AZ • December 13, 2020
A few months back I changed out the "Bearing Slides" on the front side of the drum thinking that would stop the annoying squeaking every time we use the dryer. They were very worn and one was missing. But to my dismay it only lessened it by about 10%. After doing a bit more research I discovered the "Rear Shaft Bracket Assembly" also needed replacement. The tip was worn way down and clearly the source of the noise.
It was actually a very simple repair except for the fact that the key to the...

Dryer heating for only a short time then no heat at all David N. • Fairfax , CA • December 08, 2018
GE Gas Dryer Model DBVH512GF1WW began to heat for only a short amount of time so drying clothes took WAY too long. Read online that the first thing to replace are the solenoids. Bought the two solenoids from AppliancePartsPros.com for about $50 total, and it seems to have fixed the problem. Had to watch a few videos to learn to disassemble the dryer, and the job took a couple of hours, but now that I know what I'm doing it could be done in less than 30 minutes.
Also, the old solenoids tested...
