Heats cookware when the burner control is turned on; functions as the cooktop's primary heat source for one 6" burner.
Replaces elements that are broken, visibly damaged, not heating, or heating unevenly.
Re-establishes proper electrical contact at the burner connection when the element is correctly seated.
Works with manual and infinite-switch style burner controls.

What's included:

Install notes:

Disconnect power to the range at the circuit breaker before beginning any work.
Allow the cooktop and element to cool completely; remove the old element by lifting and unplugging from the terminal block or unsnapping from the receptacle.
Inspect the element receptacle/terminal for damage and replace the receptacle if loose or corroded.
Seat the new element fully in the receptacle and test operation with power restored; do not operate without cookware or with damaged wiring.

Repair: Replace damaged heating element. Troubleshooting: Locating the problem was easy using an ohm meter. The resistive wire element had very high resistance when it should be <50 ohms. I was then able to see the burnt gap in the filament. My problem was not the heat controller, which is simply a bi-metal switch that flexes to break electrical contact. I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more
