The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. After googling this problem and realizing a built in microwave/oven would be at least 1500 dollars to repair, I decided to try to replace the wave guide cover. This is where the sparks seemed to be coming from. Taking the old one out was easy, it just popped out using a knife. Within seconds of putting the new one in, I was able to verify this was the problem with the sparking. So an easy fix with a $6 part! Read more
GE JKP90DP1BB over oven microwave would not power up after overcooking by a tenant. Removed control panel with 2 screws to access and check the main power ceramic fuse, thermal fuse, and top primary Interlock Switch, middle Monitor switch, bottom Secondary interlock relay. Used youtube videos to show me what components to test for diagnosis and my appliances electrical schematic located by removing the control surface beside the microwave (two screws to the right when you open the microwave door). Make sure breakers are off. I tested components for continuity and resistance. I ultimately did not get a voltage reading between the Bake and L2 nor the Broil and L2 located on the oven control.
