The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. When there was no ice in the bin, the auger turned, but with any ice, the auger simply stalled and could not push the ice around. Did not know where the problem was, but thought if I replaced the entire lower assembly (ordered a new motor, shaft, spring and coupler for the bottom part), that should do it. Took about 45 minutes from start to finish, but ice now dispenses fine as cubes or crushed. Read more

• Leaking

Every once in a while we'd get a small leak just under the left side (freezer door). I moved the fridge out and saw the water stain towards the front of the unit. Carefully removing the grate (see the video on how to do this so you don't snap the plastic brackets. They are part of the grate and there is one on the left and one on the right, centered from top to bottom.) Anyway the problem was visible. I had the water filter holder replaced to fix the problem with the water for the door and the ice maker. The holder did not come with the cover for the release button for the filter. I ordered a replacement cover (Button) for the filter release. The cover fits over the release lever and was easily snapped onto the lever. It took more time to unpack the button from the packaging then it did to install it onto the filter housing. I don't understand why this part wasn't included with the new... Read more
