I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. I pulled out the old housing and unplugged the motor. It pretty much came out in pieces. Remove the plastic from the motor, then had to take a pair of vice grips to hold the spindle in place to remove the auger. Remove what was still attached to the old Housing. Cleaned everything up and put the whole unit back together. The motor looked like it was somewhat cooked but still worked, so I ordered a new motor and auger to replace it. This was a very easy fix. Two screws to get the front off of the washer. Removed one side of the tensioner spring. Loosened two screws for the motor and two screws for the pump. I decided to replace the agitate belt even though it wasn't broken.. So, I removed that belt from the pulleys and the removed the broken belt. then just reversed the process to install the belts. it toke me less than 30 minutes and my washer was back in service. Not one to patch a job, I ordered all seal kit, bearing kit, new shaft keeper, transmission oil, spanner wrench. I have the newer version of the agitator shaft so it does not have the groove for the internal clip. I Custom ground a thick washer so that as the agitator shaft goes into the transmission it fit flush into the slot for the old style shaft clip. The collar pin sheared off in the transmission of my Maytag washer. Watching on-line videos of removing the transmission looked like major project. With the front panel removed, you can repair the transmission without removing it from the washer. This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand. Washer won't fill properly or overflows? This water level pressure switch senses tub water and signals when to stop filling. Moderate DIY repair.
Since there was no water entering the machine and the machine will not start until the water level is satisfied, I concentrated on the water level switch. I disconnected the power first, then I jumped the normally open contacts on the water level switch, connected the power and the machine became operable.
