Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lower wash arm rotating slowly   Ron G. • Wharton , TX • January 16, 2017

Found that the lower wash arm was rotating slowly due to Hard Water build up. Prior to replacement ran an empty load using CLR in-order to breakdown the Lime and Calcium build up. Door Spring (Counterbalance), Single
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP99002598

This dishwasher door spring provides the counterbalance tension that lets the door open and close smoothly. Replacing a worn or broken spring restores proper door feel and helps prevent the door from dropping unexpectedly.

  • Provides counterbalance tension so the door opens and closes smoothly
  • Helps the door stay partially open without drifting
  • Reduces slamming or sudden drop when opening
  • Common failure signs: door feels heavy, drops quickly, opens unevenly, or a spring is visibly broken
What's included: 1 door spring Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water; remove the toe-kick/access panel
  • Support the door; note spring routing and which frame holes are used before removal
  • Install the new spring in the same holes; adjust hole selection only per service information to fine-tune tension
  • Springs are under tension—wear gloves/eye protection; consider replacing both springs together for balanced operation

Dishes were 'gritty' with an almost invisible coating of specks smaller than grains of salt. Prior to ordering parts, I had to determine which part(s) needed replaced and which could benefit from a good cleaning. After viewing Appliance Parts Pros YouTube Videos, I removed the Main Manifold (snaps right off) including the Top Spray Arm. I discovered the Flappers of the Docking Station (AP6009888) were worn out and/or missing. I removed the Docking Station simply by popping the old one off... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher started making a grinding noise   Timothy T. • Alpharetta , GA • June 26, 2015

Searched the dishwasher model on ApplianceParts (had used them for a washing machine repair a few years earlier). Was looking for an exploded diagram of the internal parts so I could figure out what might be the problem. The video started by noting that "you want to replace the motor seal if 1) you have a leak or 2) your dishwasher is making a noise". I watched the... Read more
