I used lime away, vinegar, finish washer cleaner none of them worked. Finally just use Brillo on the entire cabinet interior. It came out very clean. Only needed very light scrubbing. Then replaced the severely corroded filters Riser tube and upper jet which was not turning. After this the upper arm turned perfectly silverware and glassware and silverware came out rinse very clean. Will do preventative maintenance in the future. Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Installed new pump drain assembly. Word to the wise: Always check the small drain pouch located in the rear below the bottom screen cover for small particles (broken glass, broken plastic silverware, plastic wrap material that could be blocking the drainage inlet. Read more

Looks as if water seeped down onto the control strip and shorted it out. There were two traces in the membrane switch ribbon cable that were blown. Considered soldering them, but removing the control strip for inspection pretty much ruined the aesthetics of it, so just ordered another. You just have to unscrew the top mount screws to free the back panel of the door from the hinged inner panel of the door. The instructions that came with replacing the detergent tank locknut were pretty clear. Separating the inner and outer surfaces of the door requires some care. The two surfaces are held together by a number of Phillips head screws. Once the two surfaces are loose, there is a ribbon cable, and a multi-pin IDC connector that connect the control panel on the front door, to the control module mounted on the inner door.
