Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken downdraft switch   James S. • Sunnyvale , CA • May 03, 2018

Found replacing the switch to be doable, but it was quite a delicate operation. This was for a Thermador range with a broken downdraft switch. It required the removal of 5 small screws which could easily be fumbled and dropped down where it would be difficult, if not impossible to retrieve. Two of the screws were facing the back, so it was a blind operation to remove and replace the screws. Required an offset screwdriver, as space was tight. So, be EXTREMELY careful to not drop the screws and... Read more

I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair... Read more

Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping. I can say AppliancePartsPros is MUCH cheaper for the identical Whirlpool genuine part. While changing the ignitor, I noticed there was an excessive amount of lint in the dryer, which was caused by worn drum seals. I ordered... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer timer   Joyce M. • Smithfield , KY • November 29, 2016

I had an incident where a full and heavy box of Borax had fallen against the timer, and after that it didn;t work right, but I found that if I wedged a piece of cardboard of a plastic "make-do-disk" at the dial gap I could get it to run.--(ONLY AFTER I made CERTAIN that there was no build up of lint in dryer duct--wanted no fire hazard!) Eventually that didn't work. Between what I knew, what I read, and what I discussed with the "Live Chat" person I was certain it was the timer. I was also... Read more
