I did a troubleshooting search using the model number of my dryer. That led me to AppliancePartsPros.com. The information on the site said that the most likely cause was that the idler pulley system needed to be replaced. I watched the video on how to do the repair and decided to try repairing it myself. The parts arrived within 3 days. It took me, a novice, much longer to complete the repair than estimated but that was not a problem. I managed to replace the system (just 3 parts) and put the... I am so very happy with your sight and the step by step videos that were the success to being able to do this on my own. Read more

First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in... Read more

Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. After some trial and error, I located the screws which were 5/16 hex head screws and removed them with a MAGNETIC nut driver. (The magnet assures that the screw will not drop down into the mechanism). Second, I... Read more
