If your dryer stops heating mid-cycle or won't heat at all, a failed gas valve coil is often the cause. This coil energizes the valve to release gas.
The best way to fix it is to open the plastic port on the bottom front of the dryer. Lie on the floor and you can see the flame when the cycle begins (the burner is visible through the port on the left and slightly up). If the flame goes out after about five minutes it's the same symptom. On ours I noticed that the vent was blocked (there's an indicator on the dryer control panel).
